Make 2025 Your Best Writing Year Yet.
Where will 2026 find you?
If you join the Start Small Flash writing workshop, six weeks from now you could have a half dozen new stories, feedback on your work, and maybe even a few new writing friends.
In Start Small, you’ll join a small group of fellow writers (max 12 students) to explore list stories, hermit crabs, drabbles, and more! Generate new work, develop your technique and find your writing voice in a supportive, fun online community.

Alex D. in Cambridge, MA says…
“Kayleigh's Flash Fiction class introduced me to a new universe of formats - list stories, one sentence stories, monolog stories, and many others. These formats have now become tools that help me get unblocked - when I'm feeling stuck, sometimes I pick one at random and make a sketch with it. The class was a great way to learn about these formats and play around with them.”
Start Small Includes:
6 Weeks of live zoom instruction and writing prompts — keeping you accountable and connected in real time.
Craft lessons and published Flash examples — learn tried and true techniques you can actually use.
Small class (max 12 students) — personalized attention and feedback.
Live workshopping — receive supportive, specific feedback on your work, and learn from others’ stories too.
Writer-first workshopping — ask questions and redirect the conversation to get the most out of the feedback on your stories.
Recordings and PDFs to revisit lessons and keep the momentum going even after class has ended.
What Students Are Saying
-
I especially appreciated Kayleigh’s nuanced lesson on the varieties of third person narration. It’s made me more tuned in to my choices in my writing and it’s also made me a more appreciative reader.

My longstanding Imposter Syndrome has taken a back seat to my newfound confidence since taking Kayleigh’s class.

The craft tools and self editing techniques you taught in class helped me to grow as a writer. And your feedback significantly improved my short stories for my MFA applications. Thanks, Kayleigh!

Meet your Instructor
Hi, I’m Kayleigh, and over the last decade I’ve taught hundreds of writing students at Emerson College, the Cape Cod Writers Center Conference, Community Education centers, and the prestigious Grub Street Writing Center in Boston.
Flash Fiction is where I’ve found my home as a writer. Through it I’ve found a community of encouraging, productive, and wildly creative writers.
As an instructor, I love that flash lets me get to know my students work so well — with flash you can write a new story every week, with time left to revise and even submit for publication.
Some of my flash students have written their first stories, gotten their first creative writing publications, and broken free of writers block after years of struggling with novels and memoirs. It’s truly life changing.
Still not sure? Attend session one and if it’s not right for you, email me by Tues 8/19 to get a full refund for the remaining five sessions.
